In an episode of “The Simpsons” Reverend Lovejoy had a slogan on his burning book mobile that says, “Nobody Beats The Rev!” It is a parody of (and reference to) the Wiz’s slogan.
On my first trip to NYC in August 2002,** my friend Anil and I spent a lot (A LOT) of time walking all over Manhattan. He told me all about the Wiz and “Nobody beats the Wiz!” and how he liked to say, “Few beat the Wiz!” instead, as it wasn’t technically possible for a store to be 100% unbeatable.
Every time I hear about the Wiz, I still think, “Few beat the Wiz!” Thanks, Anil.
